An elegant wine with deep ruby colour, plums and red berry fruit with smoothly integrated tannin.
Accessible now, but well enough structured for 4+ years ageing. The ideal wine to serve with roasts,
venison and matured cheese.
The Pinotage is intensely perfumed, cedar-toned plums and dark berries, backed by a smooth –
textured tannin structure. This lively, generous wine is a traditional South African variety. Has 4+
years ageing potential. Enjoy with venison and game birds, or hearty casseroles.
The Chardonnay is fermented in small oak barrels to create a balance between the abundance of fruit
and spicy oak tannins. Tempting flavours of butter, caramel and citrus makes this wine our pride.
Serve with Cape Salmon and leafy salads.
Springfield Estate Methode Ancienne Chardonnay 2009 is in the ancient style of Burgundy, rarely is this technique with wild yeast and no fining/filtration used in the new world. Thus, a wine of distinctive and classical character, it will develop slowly and is made to last (we hope) a lifetime. Nuances of lime, cointreau and oranges a big wine with classical character!
The wine is full bodied with herbaceous ‘veld’, spice, pepper, bright red
summer fruit and plum flavours. The wine was made to be enjoyed at
release, but should only improve with age for up to 8 years after release. The
wine is ideal to be enjoyed on its own in winter or slightly chilled in summer
evenings and will go well with strong cheese, lamb or game dishes.
