Here is a bit of insight on Van Loveren that might leave your mouth watering to either try some of the new wines or continue to enjoy your favourite wine from this local wine estate that is internationally and locally recognised for their true craft. Van Loveren wine farm is built on three generations of proudly South African entrepreneurial spirit and genuine hospitality. It has become South Africa’s foremost family-owned and operated wine business with an incredible variety of quality offerings. The family farm has become a world-class wine tourism destination, and it is home to very well known wines such as the African Java Pinotage, Five Reserve Pinotage, Five Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Day Dream Pinot Noir/Chardonnay, Christina Chardonnay, Christina Noble Late Harvest, Neils Pick Colombar, Van Loveren Sauvignon Blanc, Skinny Red, Skinny Rose, Christina Shiraz and many more.
The history of the Van Loveren wine farm name comes from Ouma Jean van Zyl, a teacher from the small town Ashton. She was quite superstitious believing that “F” stood for ‘fools and failures’. The name Goudmyn F didn’t bode well with her and she persuaded Hennie to rename the farm Van Loveren, in memory of Christina van Loveren, who came to South Africa in 1699.
The first 500 cases of Van Loveren wine ever produced took a whole year to sell 400 cases and the remaining 100 cases was lost in the Laingsburg flood of 1981. The first wine tastings on the Van Loveren farm was done in an old milk shed. Coming from humble beginnings to one of the best know family wineries in the world.
To name a few of the best wines to come form the wine farm the award winning Christina Shiraz, and the always fresh Van Loveren Sauvignon Blanc and the fruity Niels pick Colombard, so there’s one last thing to do, buy your bottle of Van Loveren Wines and share it with your loved ones, lets excite them too.
