A superb blend of The Family of Red wines: Merlot (35%), Pinotage (30%), Shiraz (15%), Tinta Barocca
(10%), Ruby Cabernet (5%) and Touriga Nacional (5%). Flavours of ripe berry and plum with layers of
creamy vanilla, nuts and dark chocolate on the palate. A perfect partner for red meat.
The wine is full bodied with herbaceous â€˜veldâ€™, spice, pepper, bright red
summer fruit and plum flavours. The wine was made to be enjoyed at
release, but should only improve with age for up to 8 years after release. The
wine is ideal to be enjoyed on its own in winter or slightly chilled in summer
evenings and will go well with strong cheese, lamb or game dishes.
It was our desire to produce a Bordeaux Blend and so we planted the classic varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. These vines were planted on carefully selected sites and took 9 years to reach maturity. The grapes were fermented whole with native yeasts and left for 5 weeks on their skins. The wine was then barrel aged for two years followed by four years of bottle maturation.
An elegant wine with deep ruby colour, plums and red berry fruit with smoothly integrated tannin.
Accessible now, but well enough structured for 4+ years ageing. The ideal wine to serve with roasts,
venison and matured cheese.
